* I501 and Y570 must occur in semesters where they appear, all other courses can be taken in years 1-3.

Orange line represents time when all students must complete course requirements for admission to candidacy, which can happen any time in year 3. Mentorship of under-represented minority undergraduate students, under the Summer Research Opportunities in Computing (IU-SROC) program, occurs in the last two years. The dissertation proposal is expected to occur by the end of year 4 (red line). Dissertation defense is expected to occur during year 5.
