Cognitive Science
Mikaela Akrenius is a PhD candidate in Cognitive Science at IU Bloomington, working with Dr. Jerome Busemeyer and Dr. Rich Shiffrin. Prior to joining IU, she received a master's in Cognitive Science from the University of Helsinki, after which she worked as a research assistant at the Finance Department of Aalto University School of Business. Mikaela's main research interests lie in the computational and mathematical modeling of decision making under risk and uncertainty, applications of information theory in psychological research, and identifying shared principles underlying perception and higher level cognition. Her current projects investigate the psychological roots of non-expected utility theories and how information-theoretic constructs could be used to enrich models of risky choice.
