Sociology
Benjamin Hartmann is a doctoral student in the Sociology Department at Indiana University and focuses on the formation and politicization of concepualizations of social boundaries and structure. His current work focuses on the construction and configuration of racial schemas and how they effect policy and public opinion. Additionally, Hartmann works on how social scientists can incorporate natural language processing and machine learning into standard practice and social theory testing. Hartmann earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Minnesota in 2017 in Sociology and History with minors in Asian American Studies, Comparative Race and Ethnic Studies in the United States, and Statistics.
